1. Introduction
Kwizto is a quiz management platform built by Aliston that works alongside Cirrus Shield. As an administrator in a Cirrus Shield-connected organization, you create and publish quizzes in Kwizto, then send them to Contacts, Leads, or other Cirrus Shield records directly from inside Cirrus Shield. Participants complete the quiz through a personal link sent by email, and their results are stored in Kwizto and written back to Cirrus Shield.
This guide covers everything an administrator needs to run quizzes in a Cirrus Shield-integrated organization. It does not cover the participant's experience taking a quiz — see the companion Kwizto User Guide for that.
Note: you sign in to Kwizto with your Cirrus Shield account. There is no separate Kwizto account to register or manage.
2. Getting Started
2.1 Installing the Kwizto Plugin in Cirrus Shield
Before anyone in your organization can sign in to Kwizto, an administrator with access to your Cirrus Shield organization's setup area needs to install the Kwizto plugin package. This is a one-time step per organization.
In Cirrus Shield, go to Setup > Import/Export Organization Configuration and import the Kwizto plugin files:
- Quiz.XML and QuizParticipant.XML — the Cirrus Shield objects Kwizto uses to track quizzes and quiz participants.
- Quiz_Plugin_XML.xml — registers Kwizto as an installed plugin in your organization.
- Quiz_Associate_Button_XML.xml — the "Associate" button used to send a quiz from a Contact or Lead record (Section 5).
Upload each file and complete the import. Ask whoever supplied you with these files if you don't have them.
Once the import finishes, the Quiz and QuizParticipant objects are available in Cirrus Shield, and Kwizto appears in your organization's list of installed plugins with a link to its configuration page — the same page used to finish setting up single sign-on below.
Add the Associate button to the page layout of any Contact/Lead (or other) object type you plan to send quizzes from, so it appears on those records' pages. The exact steps for editing a page layout live inside Cirrus Shield's own setup area — check with whoever administers your Cirrus Shield organization if you don't have access yourself.
2.2 Signing In
Open Kwizto through the sign-in link provided by your Cirrus Shield administrator. This link opens the Kwizto login page (
kwizto.com/app/login) and identifies your organization.Click Connect with Cirrus Shield.
You're redirected to your Cirrus Shield organization's own login page. Sign in there with your normal Cirrus Shield credentials (or whatever sign-in method Cirrus Shield itself offers, e.g. Microsoft).

The first time, Cirrus Shield asks you to authorize Kwizto's access to your account; click Authorize. You're redirected back to Kwizto, already signed in.

There is no separate Kwizto username or password for Cirrus Shield-connected organizations. Your access is tied entirely to your existing Cirrus Shield account and organization, and is granted the moment you authorize Kwizto from Cirrus Shield's own login screen — Kwizto itself never sees or stores a Cirrus Shield password. The Connect with Cirrus Shield button only appears when you open the login page through your organization's sign-in link and the connection described in 2.3 is set up. If you don't see it, ask your Cirrus Shield administrator for the sign-in link.
Your session stays active for 12 hours, after which you will be asked to sign in again.
2.3 Connecting Kwizto to Your Cirrus Shield Login (Required, One-Time Setup)
Before anyone in a Cirrus Shield-connected organization can sign in (Section 2.2), an admin with access to your Cirrus Shield organization's setup area must configure this connection once, for the whole organization. Until it is set up, the Connect with Cirrus Shield button is not shown and your organization's users cannot sign in to Kwizto.
In Cirrus Shield, create a Public Connected App named "Kwizto" with these values:
- Client Type: Public (no client secret is used or stored)
- Allowed Scopes: api offline_access
- Redirect URI:
https://quizzapi.cirrus-shield.net/Authentication/CsOAuthCallback
The exact menu path for creating a Connected App lives inside Cirrus Shield's own setup area, not in Kwizto — check with whoever administers your Cirrus Shield organization if you don't have access yourself.
Opening the new Connected App's detail page in Cirrus Shield shows a link to Kwizto's own configuration page for your organization, with your Organisation Id already filled in. Open it, enter your Cirrus Shield URL and the Client ID from the Connected App you just created, and click Create (or Update, if you're revisiting this later).
The Client ID is not carried over automatically — copy it from the Connected App in Cirrus Shield and paste it into this page yourself.

2.4 What You'll See After Signing In
Cirrus Shield-connected organizations see a simplified Kwizto navigation with three sections:
- Home — your dashboard (
kwizto.com/app). - Quizzes — the list of all quizzes you have created.
- Email Templates — your organization's reusable email template library (Section 6).
You will not see Sessions, Participants, or Parameters menu items — these are specific to standalone organizations that don't run through Cirrus Shield. In your organization, participant management and quiz assignment happen from inside Cirrus Shield itself (see Section 5).
2.5 The Home Dashboard
The Home page (kwizto.com/app) gives you an at-a-glance summary:
- Four KPI tiles: quizzes in progress, pending responses (participants who have not completed their quiz), your global success rate, and your total quiz count.
- A bar chart comparing success rate and average score across your last five quizzes.
- A pie chart showing the breakdown of quizzes by status.
- A "Recent Submissions" list and a "Quizzes in Progress" list.
- A Create new quiz button that takes you straight to quiz creation.
3. Creating and Managing a Quiz
3.1 Creating a New Quiz
From the Quizzes list, click Create Quiz. Every new quiz starts in Draft status, meaning it is not visible or sendable to anyone until it is published. Fill in:
| Field | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Name | The quiz title participants will see. |
| Description | Optional context shown before the quiz starts. |
| Opening Date/Time | When the quiz becomes available to take. |
| Closing Date/Time | When the quiz stops accepting attempts. |
| Display of the score upon completion | What participants see about their result: No Score, Score, or Detailed Score (per-question breakdown). |
| Access | Public or Private. |
| Graded | Toggle, on by default. Turn off for a quiz with no score, e.g. a survey or interview — hides Passing Grade and the score display option from the form when off. |
| Disable copy/paste for the quiz taker | Toggle, off by default. Blocks copy/cut/paste and right-click during the live attempt only, silently (no on-screen message). A deterrent only, not a security guarantee. |
You can also save a quiz as a Template instead of a live quiz — templates are reusable blueprints you can later turn into a real, schedulable quiz instance with one click from the Quizzes list (Create Instance).

3.2 Adding Questions and Answers
Open the quiz and go to the Questions tab. For each question you add:
- Enter the question text (a rich-text editor supports formatting) and an optional description.
- Choose the question Type:
- Single choice — exactly one answer must be marked correct.
- Multiple choice — more than one answer may be marked correct.
- Free text — the participant types a response in a plain textarea. There are no answer choices, no score, and no correct-answer requirement.
- File upload — the participant uploads a file as their answer (allowed types: .pdf, .doc, .docx, .ppt, .pptx, .png, .jpg, .jpeg, .svg, .mp3, .mp4, .webm, .wav, .m4a, .ogg; 25 MB max, configurable). Like Free text, there is no score or correct-answer concept.
- Audio — the participant records an answer with the browser microphone or drops an audio file (.mp3, .wav, .m4a, .ogg, .webm). Like Free text, there is no score or correct-answer concept.
- Add the answer choices. Each answer has its own rich-text label, a Score (points awarded if selected/correct), and a Mark as correct flag.
- Drag to reorder answers or questions as needed.
Any question, of any type, can also have an optional attached reference document (the paperclip Attach a document control in the question editor). It is shown to the participant after the question text and before the answer choices — inline preview for images/audio/video, a download link otherwise. A Free text question's editor (no Answers section) and a File upload question with an attached document look like this:

Kwizto automatically recalculates the quiz's overall score (the sum of every question's maximum score) every time you save a question. Saving a question only checks one rule: a Single choice question cannot have more than one correct answer. The rule that every question needs at least one correct answer with a score greater than zero is checked when you publish the quiz (Section 3.4) — so a question can be saved without a valid correct answer and will only be caught at publish time.
These two rules apply to Single choice and Multiple choice questions regardless of whether the quiz itself is graded or ungraded — an ungraded quiz's choice questions still need a valid correct answer configured. Free text, File upload and Audio questions have no correct-answer concept at all and are exempt from both rules.
Five question types are available: Single choice, Multiple choice, Free text, File upload, and Audio.

3.3 Setting the Passing Score
The quiz's passing score (the minimum score a participant needs to "pass") is confirmed when you publish the quiz. It must be less than or equal to the overall score. Afterward, it can only be changed from the quiz's Edit page — the Overview tab is read-only.
3.4 Publishing, Editing, and Removing a Quiz
From the quiz's Details page:
While the quiz is in Draft, a readiness checklist shows what's still missing before you can publish: at least one question added, a calculated score greater than zero, an opening date, and a closing date. Once everything is green, a Publish now shortcut appears.
Click Publish Quiz to open the confirmation dialog, confirm the passing score, and make the quiz live. Publishing also checks that your email templates (Section 6) contain the required link placeholders — you cannot publish without them.
For an ungraded quiz, the confirmation dialog does not ask you to confirm a passing score — since there is none to confirm, it simply reads: "This quiz is ungraded — there is no score or passing grade to confirm. Publish it now?"

Unpublish quiz reverts a quiz to Draft. It does not cancel any emails already queued — any invitation, reminder, or results emails already scheduled for that quiz will still send. You cannot unpublish a quiz while it is open (i.e., between its opening and closing dates).
Modify Quiz lets you change the quiz's details (name, dates, score option, access, passing score).
Clone Quiz creates a new Draft copy of the quiz, including its questions and email templates.
Delete Quiz permanently removes the quiz, after a confirmation prompt.
A quiz only ever has two real statuses in Kwizto: Draft and Published. "Closed" is not a separate status — a published quiz simply stops accepting attempts once its closing date has passed. The Details page shows a "Live" indicator whenever the current time falls between the opening date and one day after the closing date (a one-day grace period past closing).
4. Connecting a Quiz to Cirrus Shield Objects
Before you can send a quiz to your Cirrus Shield records, you need to tell Kwizto which Cirrus Shield object types (for example, Contact or Lead) this quiz applies to.
- Open the quiz's Details page and go to the Connection Cirrus Shield tab (this tab is only shown to Cirrus Shield-connected organizations).
- Kwizto lists every object in your Cirrus Shield organization that has an email field, either directly or on a related child object — these are the objects you can realistically send a quiz to.
- Select the object type(s) this quiz should be associated with and save. For each object type, use the Add option field to choose Single add or Bulk add: Single add shows the "add to quiz" button on the object's own record (for example, adding a Contact from their own Contact page); Bulk add shows it on a parent record instead and reveals an extra Associated List field, where you pick which related child list to pull participants from (for example, adding every Contact associated with an Account).
This association is what makes the quiz selectable later when you go to send it from inside Cirrus Shield (Section 5).
5. Assigning Participants from Cirrus Shield
Unlike a standalone organization, you do not manage a participant list inside Kwizto. Instead, you send quizzes to people from within Cirrus Shield itself, working directly off the Contact, Lead, or other record you want to invite.
- Open the Cirrus Shield record (or list of records) you want to send a quiz to.
- Use the action that opens Kwizto's Associate screen for that record. Kwizto will only show quizzes that have been connected to that record's object type (Section 4).
- Choose the quiz you want to send from the list (you can filter by status and by opening/closing date, and search by name).
- Click Associate to send it.
When you associate a quiz to a record, Kwizto automatically:
- Resolves the email address(es) attached to that Cirrus Shield record (and to its child records, if the record is a "parent" of other records with their own emails).
- Creates or reuses a Kwizto participant for each email found.
- Schedules that participant's invitation email (and, if configured, reminder and results emails — see Section 6).
- Writes the quiz and its participant list back into Cirrus Shield, linking each participant to the originating Cirrus Shield record.
Because assignment always happens from a real Cirrus Shield record, every participant is automatically tied back to the Contact, Lead, or other object they came from — this is what allows results to be written back later (Section 8).
6. Automated Emails and Templates
Kwizto sends three types of automated emails, each with its own quiz-specific template (subject + rich-text body) editable from the quiz's Email Settings tab, plus a From address:
| When it's sent | |
|---|---|
| Invitation | At the quiz's opening date. If a delay (in hours) is set, the invitation email is sent that many hours before the opening date. Contains a unique, personal link for that participant. |
| Reminder | Only if the quiz has an opening date, a closing date, and a reminder frequency (in hours) set — reminders repeat on that cadence until the quiz closes. Reminders stop automatically for a participant as soon as they start the quiz. |
| Results | Only if "Send the result by email after the quizz is completed" is enabled on the quiz — sent at the closing date, with a personal link to the participant's results. |
Rather than writing a template from scratch every time, you can pull a saved template from your organization's reusable email template library and adapt it. The library is shared across every quiz you create.
Emails are queued and sent by a background process that checks for due emails on a short interval and retries failed sends automatically (up to a limited number of attempts) before giving up and marking the email as failed.

7. Monitoring Results and KPIs
The quiz's Participants tab (second tab on the Details page) shows every participant's status (Not started / In progress / Completed), their score, and lets you drill into individual results.

For an ungraded quiz, the Success Rate and Average Score tiles and the Score column are hidden entirely from the Participants tab — there is nothing to grade. For a Free text, File upload or Audio answer (or any answer on an ungraded quiz), the Score column shows an em dash (—) instead of a fraction. A File upload answer appears as a click-to-download link rather than an inline preview, since the download endpoint requires the admin's own sign-in and can't be embedded directly as an image.
A completed participant's answer detail, showing a choice question's normal score alongside a Free text answer and a File upload answer (both scored —):

The Home dashboard (Section 2.5) gives you organization-wide KPIs: success rate, quizzes in progress, average score trends, and a status breakdown across all your quizzes.
Per-quiz KPIs (total responses, success rate, average score, average completion time) are available directly from the quiz.

8. Results Write-Back to Cirrus Shield
When a participant finishes a quiz, Kwizto automatically writes their result back to Cirrus Shield — on the QuizParticipant record that links the participant to the record they were sent from — provided that link exists and a valid Cirrus Shield token is available for your organization. For a graded quiz, three fields are updated: the quiz score (QuizScore), a completion status (QuizStatus), and the completion date (QuizCompletionDate). For an ungraded quiz, there is no score to write back, so only the completion status and completion date are updated. If the write-back cannot complete for any reason (for example, no valid Cirrus Shield token), the participant's own result inside Kwizto is not affected.
This applies to every completed attempt tied to a Cirrus Shield record, including participants assigned through the Associate flow (Section 5).
